School charges controlled
12/4/2004 14:53

In order to prevent schools from overcharging their students, the local education administration will adopt a transparent policy for educational fees that will control their approval, and supervision, an official from the Shanghai Education Committee said recently.

The educational administration will hold public hearings on the items, amount, content and use of the education fees. The education committee will over-see the system in the long run.

Schools must get permission from their supervisors for each charged item before collecting fees. All items, including tuitions, books, teaching material expenses and others, should be included in a list of fees that are collected at one time. No surcharge is allowed.
