Book exchanges between Shanghai and Taipei

As of September 16th, citizens from Shanghai and Taipei will be able to borrow books from each other's libraries, as part of a program jointly initiated by the Shanghai Library and Taipei Municipal Library to increase cultural exchangebetween the two cities, the Xinmin Evening News reported today.
The Taipei Municipal Library boasts 36 rooms, with nearly four million volumes . And following a merger with the Shanghai Institute of Scientific and Technical Innformation, the Shanghai Library now boasts 50 million volumes of books and documents.
From September 16, citizens from Shanghai and Taipei can search online for the books and documents they wish to borrow and the books will then be requested and sent via post to the respective libraries.
The Taipei Municipal Library will promote the program at a public library expo next month.
