Microsoft, Education Ministry strengthen cooperation

Five labs will be
jointly developed for the educational authority's key lab management system as
the result of an agreement signed yesterday between Microsoft's Research
Department and China's Ministry of Education, the Beijing Youth Daily
said. The five labs are in cooperation with Zhejiang University, Tsinghua
University, the Harbin University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong
University of Science and Technology and the University of Science and
Technology of China. The Microsoft Research Department and the Education
Ministry are also committed to making more joint efforts to improve the Chinese
universities' basic research capabilities in the computer areas, according to
the agreement. Microsoft Research is the computer science research
organization of Microsoft Corp.
