Abuse of university loans

The education loan
service department at one local university has revealed recently that some
applicants are not really too poor to afford their fees. Electronic products and
travel are the main areas where some education loan money flows, the Youth Daily
reported yesterday.
Over 300 students in this local university received their
second education loans at the end of last month, with the highest sum at 6,000
yuan (US$726). "Not all are qualified," said Shen, a teacher from the Department
of Academic Technology in this university.
Since no income certificate by the
community civil administration department is required during the application,
the result is chaos in the education loan system at some universities.
On
enquiring the purposes of the education loan, Pan, a junior in this university
bolted out: I will buy a digital camera or a PDA (portable digital
assistant).
