Local Fudan
University has published the results of a recent survey on living cost for its
undergraduate students. The survey, conducted by the China Youth League
Commission, was the first of its kind. According to the survey, cited by
today's Shanghai Morning Post, students spent an average of 659 yuan (US$80) in
April. While most of the students spent between 500 and 600 yuan per month,
about 15 percent spent more than 1,000 yuan. Students from out of the city
spent about 200 or 300 yuan more per month than their Shanghai native peers who
can reduce living costs by bringing daily utensils and food from
home.
