As a key component in the reform of physical education in local elementary and middle schools, the student's score for figure health will count in the final evaluation, according to a statement in today's Oriental Morning Post by Ping Jie, section chief with the municipal Education Commission.
Formerly, physical items on the entry exam to high school included only a few sports like running, throwing and long jumping.  The new evaluation will be divided into three parts: constitutional health, physical capability and body shape, including height and circumference.
We hope the new evaluation system will remind students of the importance of their comprehensive health, Ping Jie added.
However some parents are doubting the fairness of judging a student by such figures as height and circumference.
