To clear up ambiguity in the education sector, Shanghai Education Commission has ruled a clear definition of so-called speciality schools and programs in a notice circulated on February 6.
A school that proclaims to be a specialty must adopt a stable, unique and demonstrative education strategy, the authority states.
Meanwhile, the school must have:
* Advanced education ideas;
* Developmental targets that are recognized by both its teachers and students;
* Professional and responsible teaching faculty;
* Necessary teaching facilities, environment and cultures;
* Students that demonstrate specialized talents in relevent areas;
* Data that reflects the school's development.
Speciality programs must maintain a high social awareness and have more than 80 percent of the school's students in participation.
