The day when ordinary citizens can enjoy their leisure hours under weeping
willows along the river bank is not far as Shanghai plans to develop seven green
spaces along Suzhou Creek by the end of this year. All the green
spaces will be located near the 21-kilometer stretch of Suzhou Creek within the
city's Putuo District. Suzhou Creek is one of the city's busiest traffic
arteries and famous landmarks. The project to create green spaces is launched at
a time that the government begins to attach importance to making overall plan
for the exploitation of its waterfront.
