Mao Jialiang, director general from the municipal Bureau Of Urban Planning revealed the landscape of a sighting water system in Shanghai during a government press conference on April 27.

According to the construction schedule of this sighting water system, the whole project should be finished by the end of 2010.  There are five significant phases in the reconstructions along the Huangpu River.  Some, such as the Northern Bond, will come into basic shapes in 2007; buildings for World Expo fair use are to be put into use by 2010; we plan to complete the reconstruction of the Suzhou River in the end of 2010; while that of the Zhongshan Park will be extended to 2007.  So,  the latter four phases, or the "vertical-horizon" project as a whole, along with the constructions of the three rivers, Bailianjing, the west outer ring river, the  island-circling river in Chongming Island, and the Dazhi River in Minhang District, will reach an end before 2010.

The city would make full use of the underground space as well.

I believe that with the development of the city's construction, besides the experience gained from detailed projects, the city will be making perfect in the aspect of standardizing and law-establishing for the development of underground space, Mao added.
