On November 28 Lanlugang Bridge, the biggest bridge on the western
section of the Huqingping Highway, saw the successful joining of its main
span.
The 34-meter-wide Bridge carries six lanes, three in each direction,
and is designed to allow cars to pass over it at 120 kph. Its main arch
spans 102 meters of the 1,540-meter-long bridge over the river below.
The
bridge, one of the city's key projects for this year, has been under
construction since last July and was expected to open to traffic by the end of
this year.
"The completion of this Bridge will facilitate the construction of
the western section of Huqingping Highway, which is set to open to traffic by
May 2006", said a government spokesman.
