Hongqiao airport used alternatively by international flights
11/2/2003 15:01
Two international flights used the Hongqiao airport for alternative
landing and take-off yesterday, the Shanghai Morning Post reported.
This
indicates that the Hongqiao airport is serving its function as an international
alternative airport, airport officials pointed out.
Flight MU8764 from
Singapore, scheduled to land at Pudong International Airport in the east of the
city, landed alternatively at the Hongqiao airport yesterday morning at 9:20
because of heavy rains in Pudong.
All the passengers were through customs
within about 40 minutes of landing.
At 13:00 yesterday afternoon, a jet
scheduled to depart from the Pudong airport for Hong Kong took off from the
Hongqiao airport because of the serious medical condition of a passenger. Four
passengers and four crew members were on board.
