Shanghai is planning to build a modern residential center designed by an
Italian design firm featuring vast green areas, functional residential blocks
and easy access to public transit.
The blueprint and miniature model of
the area, Pujiang Town, are on display at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition
Hall from April 18 to 27.
Designed by the Italian architectural design
company Gregotti Associati International, the 100-square-kilometer area will be
a stylish satellite watertown located in Minhang District, 15 kilometers
southwest of Shanghai's People's Square.
According to Gregotti's
description, the town will artfully blend classic Italian architectural
features, Chinese characteristics and modern western concepts in functional
residential design.
Its central area, about 2.6 square kilometers, will
be developed into busy residential centers by Shanghai Highpower-Oct Investment
Inc. with a massive investment of at least 5 billion yuan (US$602
million).
The whole construction and development process is estimated to
take about 10 years.
