Two aircraft research institutes under China Aviation Industry
Corporation merged yesterday, establishing a new aviation research institute,
with its headquarters in Xi'an and a branch in Shanghai.
Before merging,
both the research institutes, Shanghai Aircraft Research Institute and Xi'an
Flight Automatic Control Research Institute, boasted leading technology and
staff in civil and military aircraft research in China.
The new
institute has a strong professional research team, with more than 2,000 aviation
scientists and technicians, 480 among them senior aviation engineers.
Establishing the institute will enhance the production and research
process for domestic-made aircraft, an official from the institute
says.
