A 5.8-meter wide, 2.6-meter high arch memorial was erected yesterday
to mark the completion of the world's longest arch bridge, the Lupu
Bridge.
The memorial, located at the center of the greenland by the
western side of the bridge, is made of white marble and shaped like an arch to
resemble the bridge itself.
The inscription on the front notes the
significance of constructing the bridge in Shanghai, its architectural
contribution to the world and the feats of the workers who constructed it.
