New plan to rebuild old city blocks in Huangpu District
10/7/2003 15:10
The old city blocks located at the southern part of the Huangpu
District will be rebuilt into a functional entertainment and residential
paradise based on a newly drafted plan. The reconstruction plan divides the
199-hectare lot into four parts, each to boast at least one distinguished
feature once the overall project is completed. The northeastern part
including the renowned Yuyuan Garden will be built into a travel and cultural
center. The southwestern part with a vintage temple at its center, which is now
turned into a second-hand book fair, will be built into an educational and
cultural center. The northwestern and southeastern parts will continue their
urban constructions, but focusing on adding more historical features to the
newly built residential buildings.
