Shanghai will add 24 sales outlets for railway tickets and soon extend
ticket-sales times to get ready for the approaching railway ticket sales peak
during the National Day holiday, the Shanghai Morning Post reported
today. Currently It is hard to buy railway tickets to mid and large-sized
Chinese cities and popular scenic spots such as Beijing, Jinan, Chengdu, Xi'an,
Shenyang, Huangshan Mountain, Wuyishan Mountain and Guilin, although there are
still six or seven days before the weeklong National Day holiday. The peak
day for railway tickets sales is expected to fall on October 1, according to the
local railway department. With 24 additional sales outlets, the total railway
ticket sales outlets will reach 208 in Shanghai. All the local passenger
transport stations will extend their business hours for railway ticket sales,
sell more presold and round-trip tickets, set up mobile ticket sales vehicles,
open ticket-bookings via Internet and telephone, and offer ticket-sending
services. The Shanghai Railway Station will also establish an outlet on the
Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall to help tourists from outside the city buy
returning tickets.
