Expressway to get broader

The Huning Expressway, which connects Shanghai and Nanjing, Jiangsu
Province, will be doubled in width within three years, as a result of a 9
billion yuan (US$109 million) expansion project. To prepare for the project,
contractors plan to remove the underground pipes within 20 meters on both sides
of the road by month's end, today's Youth Daily reported. As planned, the
expressway will get two more lanes on each side and be expanded to an 8-lane
road expressway. After completion the road an average of 66,700 vehicles are
expected to use the road each day from 2006.
