Construction begins on port facility

Ground was broken on April 8 for construction of the Yangshan Deep-Water
Port Facility in south city's Nanhui County Luchao Port.
Upon completion, the
port will have an area of 13.8 square kilometers, making it one of Asia's
largest modern port facilities.
The deep-water port's first phase will be
completed by the end of 2005 and put into service along with the port in the
same year.
West of the Haigang New City, the park will be east of the A2
Expressway connecting Luchao Port with downtown Shanghai, and 32 kilometers from
the deep-water port area.
