The largest organic and inorganic waste processing factory started its
construction in Putuo District in Shanghai yesterday, Jie Fang Daily
reported.
As one of the most important projects in a three-year environmental
protection plan of Shanghai, the total investment of the factory is high, up to
250 million yuan (US$ 31 million). Once completed, its daily processing
capacity will be 800 tons, among which biological waste will be 680 tons and
other garbage, 120 tons.
The factory will mainly process the biological waste of Putuo.
According to the scheme, this factory may process biological waste up to
268,500 tons per year, and will provide the electric network of east China with
41,000,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity and simultaneously manufacture 40,000
tons of fertiliser for the use of green lands in Putuo.
