Jointed tracks have been replaced by continuous welded rails (CWR) along the
railway between Shanghai and Nanjing, today's Shanghai Morning Post
reported. CWR, welded for several kilometres at a stretch,
gives trains a much faster and smoother ride than jointed tracks. The
clickety-clack rhythm of the rails will also vanish with the jointless rail
tracks. The railway between Shanghai and Nanjing stretches
303 kilometers and is one of China's busiest railways.
