Shanghai Municipal Government has invested 20 billion yuan (US$2.4 billion)
this year for its second-round Three-Year Environment Act, government
spokesperson Jiao Yang said this afternoon at the regular press
conference. Jiao announced the results of a mid-term evaluation report of the
environmental protection program, which started last year, as well. According
to the report, this year the local government has pushed 20 billion yuan in
environment, accounting for more than 3 percent of the city's gross domestic

Shanghai has started two of the total 18 work items, with 2,523 household
garbage collection centers established in communities and 250 used product
collection stations and 127 household garbage compressing stations set up
