Statistics from the municipality show a total of 805,000 construction workers participated in  28 key urban construction projects in Shanghai in 2004, featuring  works with high quality, security and trust.
The contribution competition system has a 19-year history in Shanghai and inspired numerous  construction workers and managers to contribute themselves to the development of the city.
High technological content and innovation of  construction are always paramount, provided that the building is expected be an expression of the collective pride and aspirations of the city, and to have a very long lifespan. 
This system will continue to help with the preparations for the World Expo Shanghai 2010, along with improvingthe local traffic situation in 2005, the last year of the tenth five-year plan.
