Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo welcomed back yesterday the Cuban
baseball team, which won the bronze medal at the Youth Baseball World Cup in
Edmonton, Canada.
Also at the international airport of Jose Marti in Havana to welcome the
athletes are leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Government, the Unit of
Communist Youngsters (UJC) and the National Institute of Sports, Physical
Education and Recreation (INDER).
Cuba won the bronze after defeating Australia 6-2, while South Korea kept the
title winning 7-0 against the United States.
Team manager Esteban Lombillo said he was satisfied with his players in the
World Cup as they overcame all the difficulties en route to reaping the medal.
