Russia's tennis player Igor Kunitsyn won the 2008 Kremlin Cup and his first
men's single title in Moscow yesterday.
Kunitsyn beat Marat Safin 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 in an all-Russia men's
singles final, RIA Novosti news agency reported.
Earlier on Sunday, world number one tennis player Jelena Jankovic from Serbia
claimed the 2008 Kremlin Cup title after beating Russia's Vera Zvonareva 6-2,
6-4 in the final.
The tournament prize in the men's singles competition is some US$1.05 million
while that for women's singles is US$1.34 million.
The Kremlin Cup, held this year for the 19th time, was Russia's first
international professional tennis tournament.
