Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was banned for three matches yesterday for
throwing a coin back into the crowd during a English League Cup game against
Burnley.
The incident happened in last Wednesday's game after Drogba had scored at
Stamford Bridge and was celebrating the goal close to the visiting fans.
Some of the Burnley fans threw coins at him and Drogba picked one up and
threw it back. He was shown a yellow card for celebrating in front of the
Burnley fans but the referee did not see the coin incident and the Football
Association decided to charge him with violent conduct.
Drogba will miss Chelsea's Premier League games against Newcastle, Arsenal
and Bolton, the AP said.
