After six-hour talks in Dresden, a principled agreement was reached yesterday for the semifinal for the world chess title between Bulgaria's Vesselin Topalov and Gata Kamsky of the United States to be played in Sofia between February 16 and 28, 2009, local BTA reported.

Bulgaria was represented at the talks by the President of the National Chess Federation Stefan Sergiev and Topalov's manager Silvio Danailov. Bulgaria initially offered to schedule the match for Feb. 3-15 but on Kamsky's request it will start on February 16.

Asked about the financial details of the semifinal, Topalov's spokesman Zhivko Ginchev said that there is no problem since Bulgaria supports the match.

The World Chess Federation (FIDE) requires the host of the Topalov-Kamsky match to provide a purse of US$250,000 and pay an additional US$50,000 to FIDE.
