Austrian National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) said yesterday that Austrian
cyclist Bernhard Kohl who had been banned for doping admitted that he obtained
doping from a doctor.
However, Kohl refused to reveal the doctor's name, gender, working place and
other information when receiving NADA investigation on Monday.
The Law Commission of NADA said that as the party concerned didn't or refused
to provide further information about that doctor, the "generous term" is not
applicable.
Austrian media also reported that Kohl is not able to carry on the signed
contract with the club due to failing doping tests. In addition, as he is
suspected of deceiving due to taking prohibited drugs, he may face fines and
even accusation besides banning.
The French Anti-Doping Agency will also take legal steps against him, because
doping violates French laws. Therefore, Kohl may receive summons from French
court next January or February.
Austrian media said that this doping incident may "terminate" the 26-year-old
cyclist Kohl's sporting career.
Kohl was found doping in this year's Tour de France and was banned for two
years by NADA on Monday, but he has the right to appeal within four weeks after
receiving official notification.
