At least three international mountaineering teams have successfully
climbed Mt. Qomolangma from the Nepali side this season, the government said
today.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, two teams
scaled the world's highest mountain yesterday while one team claimed it on
Friday.
Two members and two high altitude workers of "2007 IMG Everest (Qomolangma)
Expedition II" team comprising climbers from the United States and Canada and
Nepali Sherpas climbed the peak yesterday.
Similarly, two members and four high altitude workers of "2007 IMG Everest
(Qomolangma) Expedition I" successfully scaled the world's highest peak
yesterday. They include climbers of Mexico, South Africa and Nepali Sherpas.
Likewise, two members of the "H.G. II Everest (Qomolangma) Expedition Spring
2007" successfully climbed Mt. Qomolangma on Friday.
They are climbers of the United States and a Sherpa people from Solukhumbu
area in Nepal.
