11th Pan-Arab Games end with Egypt ranking first

A closing ceremony of the 11th Pan-Arab Games was held last night in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, with the host Egypt ranking first on the medal standings.
According to the official website of the Games, the host Egypt grabbed 148 gold, 100 silver and 89 bronze medals.
The Egyptian football team brought the host the last gold medal as they defeated their Saudi Arabia counterparts 2-1 on the same day.
Tunisia ranked second with 63 golds, 33 silvers and 49 bronzes, followed by Algeria with 30 golds, 43 silvers and 51 bronzes.
During the 15-day event which kicked off on Nov. 11, some 7,000 athletes from 22 countries and regions of the Arab world took part in more than 30 events.
The 12th Pan-Arab Games will be held in Lebanon in 2011.
