Colombia wins women's team cycling pursuit

Colombia's women's cycling team yesterday took the gold medal in the
pursuit competition at Uruguay's Track and Route Pan American Cycling
Championships. Colombia's trio of Laura Lozano, Ana Bernal and Sandra Gomez
timed four minutes and 4.585 seconds to complete the three kilometers in the
track at Montevideo's Cycle Track. The Argentine team, comprised of Valeria
Pintos, Cristina Greve and Alejandra Allegro, won the silver medal, timing four
minutes and 8.396 seconds. The bronze medal was not awarded to any team since
the Uruguayan team did not show and lost by default. This event is being held
from May 4-11 in Montevideo, Uruguay's capital, with the participation of 25
countries and some 250 athletes.
