Fluminense confident of winning Libertadores Cup

Fluminense returned home yesterday morning following a 4-2 defeat by
Ecuador's LDU in the first leg of the Libertadores Cup finals, and the players
expressed confidence in turning the tables in their second meeting.
Head
coach Renato Gaucho and his players firmly believe that it is possible to beat
the Ecuadorian team in the second leg of the finals, which will be played on
July 2 in Rio's Maracana stadium.
Fluminense needs to win by a margin of
three goals to win. In case there is a tie in aggregate goals, the game will be
decided in extra time. If the tie persists, there will be a penalty
shootout.
"In the matches with Sao Paulo and Boca Juniors, we came from
behind. It is perfectly possible to win the Libertadores Cup on Wednesday", said
Gaucho.
The team's poor performance in Quito disappointed many fans, but the
players remain confident. Some said that only the fans who did not lose their
spirits should go to the second leg of the finals in Maracana.
"Those who do
not believe [in victory] should not go to Maracana. The fans must believe,
because Fluminense will fight for it," midfielder Thiago Neves
said.
