The final stage of European football championship may have 24 squads as of
2016, German football association (DFB) revealed yesterday.
According to DFB, UEFA held a meeting of members in Vienna yesterday,
expansion of teams in final stage of European championship is one of major
topics.
Majorities of the 53 UEFA members agreed to expand current 16 squads to 24 in
the Euro 2016 final stage.
However, the proposal will be submitted to the UEFA executive meeting in
September for final decision.
For Euro 2008 this year, a total of 16 squads are allowed to compete in the
final stage.
