Hungarian deceased canoeist's funeral held in Budapest

Funeral of Hungary Olympic champion canoeist Gyorgy Kolonics was held in Budapest's Farkasret Cemetery yesterday afternoon. -Xinhua

Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, Chairman of the Hungarian Olympic Committee Pal Schmitt, members of the Hungarian Canoe-kayak team and thousands of mourners attended the funeral.

The 36-year old canoeist died on July 15 while he was training for Beijing Olympic Games. During his career, Kolonics won two Olympic gold medals, 15 world championships and 3 European championships.
