The 2010 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee South Africa's Chief
Competitions Officer, Dennis Mumble, has resigned. Danny Jordaan, the OC's
Chief Executive Officer, said yesterday that Mumble's resignation, due to
personal reasons, had been accepted. "It is with deep regret that we have
accepted Dennis Mumble's resignation," Jordaan said in a statement. "Dennis
is a bright, intelligent football administrator with whom I have personally
worked since 1990. "He submitted his letter of resignation, citing personal
reasons, and we will respect his wishes. "He has made a tremendous
contribution to the Organizing Committee and we continue to have the highest
regard for his ability. "We wish him well in his future endeavors and hope
that he may still be an asset to the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee in
future." Mumble worked as a FIFA General Co-Ordinator at the 2006 FIFA World
Cup and in various senior positions in South African football administration for
many years. Jordaan said the OC was looking for a replacement and hoped to
fill the position shortly.
