Nigeria Football Federation urged to hire foreign coach for women team
5/9/2008 17:53

Following the early outing of the Super Falcons at the Beijing Olympics, the head of the Female Football Committee and board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has called for the hiring of a foreign coach to lead them out of the woods.
Falcons have remained a powerhouse in Africa but have always fumbled at the international level. Their latest annoying outing was the first round knockout from the Beijing Olympics where they did not record any victory, local media reported today.
Apparently angered by the disgraceful outing, Princess Bola Hannah Jegede has recommended to the NFF the need to hire an expatriate coach to make the Falcons to be a force to be reckoned with in international arena.
"Honestly speaking, the participation of the team was the worst I have ever seen. It is not that the team was not good but it was obvious that they lacked technical input from the coaches. Jossy Lad's technical deficiency was outstandingly noticeable in Beijing and we have to change from making the same mistakes over and over," Jegede, one of the pillars of women's soccer in Nigeria, emphasised.
Jegede is not the first to blame the technical crew for the ouster of the Falcons, some of the players have also complained and asked to get a foreign coach if they are to compete with their peers in the world.
