Maradona worry about the negative Argentine period
11/9/2008 17:59

Argentine former soccer player Diego Maradona said yesterday that he is worried about "the negative period" that the Argentine soccer national team is having, which has lost four matches for the World Cup qualifying tournament.
Maradona said that Lionel Messi should leave aside his individualist play to give credit to the team coached by Alfio Basile.
"Messi sometimes plays for Messi. He forgets about his team. He is Sports Club Messi. If he played accompanied by (Sergio) Aguero or (Juan Roman) Riquelme he would have better scores," Maradona said.
In declarations for TV channel Fox Sports, Maradona said that "I'm concerned for the negative period of the national team, because we can not close the matches with more pressure and to revert the history, mainly when we play at home."
Maradona said that "the games are not won by quantity but knowing how to attack and we must work on it."
Argentine team would face yesterday's night Peru in Lima, and they seek to reduce to two points the advantage of five points that Paraguay has over them and Brazil.
