Brazilian volleyball team gets ready for 2009 World League
25/9/2008 17:27

One day after knowing the rivals in the first phase of the World League of men's volleyball, Brazil head coach Bernardinho said yesterday that the team will undergo a renovation in order to make it to the finals.
When the coach compared the other teams to his, Bernardinho revealed that Brazil will have to transform in order to become champions. The team's goal is to appear in the final match.
"The World League will be made up of the best teams throughout the world, including the return of Holland. We don't know how the United States will play, especially if their setter, Ball, does not return to the team. Other teams, such as Russia and Bulgaria, have a whole new generation of players. However, I don't think that any of the teams will be going through such a drastic phase of renovation like Brazil," said Bernardinho.
Brazil was the fourth place finisher in the 2008 World League. The final phase of the competition took place in Rio de Janeiro. The 2009 competition will feature Brazil in Group D, along side Poland, Finland and Venezuela.
"Our initial job will be to work together, to form unity among the new generation of athletes that will be incorporated to the team. Should the first stage of the competition take place in China, it presents of problem due to the long distance from Brazil," said Bernardinho, who prefers that the first stage be located in the United States. The other possible site is Serbia.
