Inter Milan move to top
20/10/2008 16:54

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice to help champions Inter Milan whitewash AS Roma 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico yesterday to move two points clear with 16 points at the top of Serie A.
The Sweden striker was on target at the start of both halves before Dejan Stankovic and Victor Obinna completed the rout with powerful shots from the edge of the area in the 54th and 56th minute.
Last year's runners-up Roma fell to their fourth defeat in seven games despite the return of captain Francesco Totti, who made his first start in the league this season after knee surgery, and are nine points off the pace.
Catania, who beat Sicilian rivals Palermo 2-0, Udinese, who drew 2-2 at Lecce, and Napoli are in a three-way tie with 14 points, ahead of AC Milan, who clinched a 3-0 win over 10-man Sampdoria as Ronaldinho struck twice and Filippo Inzaghi scored a late goal.
Milan had a man advantage from the 55th minute after Sampdoria defender Stefano Lucchini received a second yellow card for a handball inside the area.
Bologna, which had lost five straight after winning its first game of the season, stunned Lazio 3-1 with two goals from Marco Di Vaio. Bologna had scored only three goals in its first six games, but collected three in 26 minutes against Lazio, the co-league leaders coming into the weekend games.
Cagliari needed a goal in the 88th from Robert Acquafresca to defeat Torino for its first victory of the new season.
Also yesterday, Chievo Verona drew 1-1 with Atalanta; Genoa beat Siena 1-0.
