Vasco coach believes team to stay in first division

Vasco coach Renato Gaucho promised he would not allow his team to descend
into the second division of the Brazilian Championship despite another loss on
Sunday. Vsco lost to Flamengo 1-0 on Sunday and remain in the last place of
this year's tournament with 27 points from 30 matches. They statistically only
have a 20 percent chance of avoiding relegation. But the coach believed the
team would continue to play with heart and pull themselves out of the hole they
have dug. "We are coming to an end of the Brasileiro. We are in the bottom of
a well, but we know exactly what we have to do. Other teams are still not sure
where they stand, but we do. For that reason, we won't fall. We have our next
five games in Rio de Janeiro. The time is now. At some point, the wind that is
blowing against us will change and be to our backs. I once was a player, so I
know this to be true. Our luck will be changing very soon, principally due to
the hard work of our players," said the coach at the team's headquarters of Sao
Januario. The team's Chilean forward, Pinilla also declared his faith in the
team and backed his coach's promise. "Vasco will not drop," he said
emphatically.
