Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is set to be appointed as Tottenham Hotspur's
new manager after the English Premier League club sacked coach Juande Ramos
late last night.
Tottenham also confirmed that sporting director Damien Comolli and Ramos's
number two Gus Poyet left the club in an announcement coming less than 24 hours
before their League clash with Bolton.
"The club can announce that Damien Comolli, sporting director, Juande Ramos,
head coach and first team coaches, Marcos Alvarez and Gus Poyet, have left the
club, with immediate effect," the announcement read.
"We wish them well," it added.
While Tottenham said that first team coaching staff would be revealed in due
course, Redknapp has confirmed that he will be succeeding Ramos.
"It's a great opportunity for me to manage a big club before I retire,"
Redknapp said, confirming he expects to be present at Sunday's game against
Bolton.
Development squad coach Clive Allen, and Alex Inglethorpe, youth team
Manager, will take charge for the Bolton match.
Spurs have agreed a compensation package of five billion pounds with
Portsmouth, according to the 61-year-old Redknapp.
"Tottenham have come in and offered five million pounds, which is good for
the club," he said, "It worked out okay for everybody."
The news followed a swirl of rumors and public comments from players about
the failing Ramos regime.
Spurs are now four points adrift at the bottom of the League table after
taking just two points from eight matches this season, the worst start to a
league campaign in their history.
They also lost to Udinese in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.
