Milan confirms Beckham move
31/10/2008 17:42

David Beckham will begin 2009 on loan at AC Milan after the Serie A team reached an agreement with his American club Los Angeles Galaxy, the Italian club said yesterday.
The 33-year-old was keen to stay in shape during the long Major League Soccer close season to protect his England international place, and Milan confirmed "the agreement is official" for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder to join Milan from Jan. 7.
The length of the loan has not been announced, but Milan would have the option to register Beckham, capped 107 times by England, for the UEFA Cup should they progress from the group stage.
Beckham said on his website: "One of the reasons I want to train and play in Milan for a few months is the fact the MLS season doesn 't run as long as the European season and my body is programmed to actually not have that amount of time off. I've played with two of the biggest clubs in the world, Man Utd and Real Madrid. I've now been given the chance to join up with Milan for a couple of months and I'm very honoured."
