All three Chinese gymnasts easily got tickets for final at their
respective events yesterday at the Stuttgart gymnastics World Cup.
Feng Zhe overcame well-known gymnastics star like Germany's Fabian Hambuechen
to top the parallel bars with 16.325 points. HisA score, or degree of
difficulty, stood at 7.00, also the highest among 27 gymnasts.
Feng Zhe was not enrolled in the Beijing Olympic Games, but he has been a
frequent medal winner at gymnastic tournament. In Marchthis year, Feng seized
the gold medal of parallel bars at Qatar World Cup.
Zhang Hongtao topped the pommel horse with 16.150 points at the qualifying
round while Yan Mingyong took the third place at the rings with 16.225 points.
Dutch former world champion Yuri van Gelder, nicknamed "king of rings", led the
standings.
Horizontal bar world champion Fabian Hambuechen took the first place at the
horizontal bar, but he gave up vault because of injury.
His teammate Matthias Fahrig made up to take the lead at the vault, winning
thunderous applause from local fans.
Fahrig also topped the floor exercise.
The finals will be staged on Sunday.
