Ferguson given two-match ban from bench
19/11/2008 16:48
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson was banned for two matches from
the bench yesterday after arguing with a referee during a Premiership match
early this month. The coach, who berated referee Mike Dean after United's 4-3
victory over Hull on Nov. 1, admitted an improper conduct charge by the Football
Association and was fined 10,000 pounds in additional. With the suspension,
Ferguson will have to watch from the stands during his team's matches against
Blackburn in the League Cup and Sunderland in the Premier League. He will be
allowed to sit on the bench for the away games at Aston Villa and neighbor
Manchester City, since the ban does not start straight away.
