China has been selected the Asian representative again in the Foundation
Board of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) at the board meeting in Montreal,
Canada. Duan Shijie, vice director of the State General Administration of
Sport, led the Chinese delegation to the Nov. 23 meeting where he was reelected
to the board with a term running from Jan. 1, 2009 to Dec. 31, 2011. "China
is very grateful for WADA's support and guidance in the anti-doping field for
the past many years, which helped ensure a successful doping control during the
Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympics," said Duan in an email sent to
Xinhua. "With the two Games to a satisfactory ending, China is fully aware
that it is still a long way ahead in the fight against doping, which is a long
term, difficult and complicated task," he said. "China will continue to work
closely with WADA and improve on the anti-doping work," he added.
