Brazil's Internacional were still in an ecstatic mood after winning the
Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday. Despite being outplayed at home for much of
the second leg, Internacional snatched an injury-time equalizer to draw 1-1
against Argentine's Estudiantes and won 2-1 on aggregate. Internacional
became the first Brazilian team to win the trophy, the region's equivalent of
the UEFA Cup, in its six-year history. "I'm very happy. I have never won an
international title and I just did it with my club," Internacional's Argentine
player Andres D'Alessandro told reporters yesterday. "This is a big award for
me, for all that I did with my club and my family," he said. Another
Argentine player Pablo Guinazu added that the title is "nice and
well-deserved".
