Jordan will regroup national football team tomorrow to start the final
countdown for the Asian Football Confederation's 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers,
local daily The Jordan Times reported today. Head coach Eduardo Vingada is
expected to name the final line-up after players from Wihdat and Faisali, who
are on duty with their clubs in Round of 16 Leg one Arab Champions League
matches, join the team. Jordan will host its Chinese counterpart on December
21, before leaving for Turkey to hold a training camp from December 30 to
January 8. The first qualifier will be on January 14 against Thailand,
following which the team is slated to have a camp in Malaysia, from January
20-26, ahead of the second qualifier against Singapore on January 28. The
national team reached the Asian Cup finals only once since the event started in
1956, and that was at the 13th Asian Cup finals in China in 2004 where it was
eliminated in the quarter- finals. Jordan dropped to 118th place in the
latest FIFA world rankings and the line-up was revamped twice this year, but
failed to impress observers and fans.
