Chess great Kasparov announces retirement
11/3/2005 11:30
Former world champion Garry Kasparov announced on Thursday that he will no
longer play chess on a professional level. But he will continue to play chess
because "it is a lot of fun", the 41-year-old told a press conference in
southern Spain. "I will still play simultaneous games or blitz
(lightning-fast) games but nothing else," he added. Kasparov made the
announcement after winning the Linares chess tournament against the current
world number three, the Bulgarian Veselin Topalov.
