Suicide car bomb hits civilian convoy in Baghdad
21/4/2005 17:06

A suicide car bomb exploded Thursday near a convoy of civilian vehicles believed used by foreign contractors in southern Baghdad, causing casualties, witnesses said.
"A suicide car bomber blew up an explosive-laden vehicle near a convoy of SUVs, commonly used by foreign contractors, on the main road to Baghdad airport, destroying two vehicles," a witness, Ali Abdul-Rahman told Xinhua.
US troops sealed off the scene and helicopters flew over the area, as plumes of thick smoke rose from the destroyed vehicles.
The road leading to the Baghdad International Airport is one of the most dangerous sections in Iraq. A suicide bomber killed three people, including an American humanitarian worker and a French earlier this month.
