22/4/2005 17:31

The death toll from a coal mine blast in western Turkey rose to 18, semi-official Anatolia News Agency reported on Friday.
One more body was recovered from the coal mine in the Gokler hamlet, 30 km away from the Gediz town of the western city of Kutahya, according to the report.
Rescuers dug out 17 bodies on Thursday. Two miners survived the explosion with slight injuries, the report added.
A methane gas explosion ripped through the state-owned coal mine Thursday, bringing down a mining shaft.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
