Suicide bomb attack kills 30 in Iraqi town of Hawijah

A suicide bomber blew up himself today outside an army recruitment
center in the Iraqi town of Hawijah, north of Baghdad, killing 30 people and
wounding 35 others, police said.
The suicide bomber wearing a belt of
explosives mingled with recruits outside the center before blowing himself up,
police said.
Insurgents stepped up violent attacks over the few past weeks to
destabilize the country's new US-backed government, attacking security forces
and senior officials along with the US troops.
